Arkansas Peanut Growers Association Donates 30,240 Peanut Butter Jars to Northeast Arkansas Food Bank

The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas received 30,240 jars of peanut butter Wednesday from the Arkansas Peanut Growers Association, a major boost for those facing hunger in the region. This donation arrives amid rising demand for food assistance and will reach thousands through the food bank's 180 partner agencies. Peanut butter offers essential protein and nutrients, making it a vital resource for families in need.

Nutritional Powerhouse Meets Urgent Demand

Peanut butter stands out as a shelf-stable source of protein, healthy fats, and energy, qualities that make it indispensable in food assistance programs. The Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, which serves individuals and families across the region, emphasized its value during this period of heightened need. “We are incredibly grateful to the Arkansas Peanut Growers Association for this generous donation,” said Rebecca Hendrix, Chief Development Officer. “Peanut butter is an essential pantry staple that provides both nutrition and energy to families, and this donation will go a long way in helping us meet the growing needs of our neighbors. With the support of organizations like the Arkansas Peanut Growers Association, we are able to continue our mission of improving food access and building a stronger, healthier community.”

Growers Champion Sustainable Local Production

Arkansas peanut growers lead the nation with the highest yields per acre, directing most of their harvest toward peanut butter production. This donation draws from check-off funds dedicated to research and promotion, reflecting the group's investment in community welfare. “The Arkansas Peanut Grower Association is pleased to make this donation to the people of Northeast Arkansas,” said Allen Donner with the association. “We are a peanut grower group that uses check-off funds for research and promotions. It is with great pride that we can give the food bank a product that we have a hand in producing. The growers of Arkansas have the highest yielding per acre of peanuts in the United States with the majority going into peanut butter. We have a high-protein food source that is grown sustainably, and we are all proud of the opportunity to help the people of our growing area. Especially during this time of weather emergencies, we hope it is helpful to many people in the area.” Such contributions underscore sustainable agriculture's role in addressing food insecurity.

Long-Term Alliance Against Hunger

This gift builds on years of collaboration between the two organizations, where the growers have consistently supplied critical resources. The Food Bank depends on such partnerships, alongside individual and business donations, to combat persistent hunger. While this shipment promises immediate relief, sustained efforts through monetary gifts, food drives, and volunteering remain essential as needs grow.
